We are asking if anybody has any children’s bike helmets that they would like to donate to the school. This will enable us to make use of the new scooters that we have been able to buy recently with extra funding from the Welsh Government.
Please could we ensure that long hair is tied up during school time.
We will be holding a special assembly to mark the schools achievements. The assembly will be held in Rudry Parish Hall on Friday 3rd May at 1pm. Parents are welcome to come and support us at this event; it would be lovely to see you there! The PTA will be selling tea, coffee and cakes.
As you will now be aware, Mrs Richards will be leaving Bedwas and Rhydri on Friday to take up her exciting new post as Headteacher at Glan Llyn Primary School in Newport. We would like to thank her for the hard work and enthusiasm that she has demonstrated during her time with us. Both schools have benefitted greatly from her knowledge and experience.
For the short interim period before the return of Miss Bodenham from her maternity leave the Acting Deputy Headteacher’s role will be shared between the schools’ Senior Management Team – Mrs Samantha Banks and Mr Adam Ankin who will each be given half a week out of class to carry out their duties.
We would like to thank the staff from the Air Ambulance Service for their visit to the children this week. The children enjoyed hearing about the good work that they do within the community.
As part of the new curriculum and giving children a say in what they get to learn about and do, we have decided to start our new topic ‘Sun, sea and sand’ with a hook day. On Tuesday 30th April both Rainbow and Bronze class children are invited to dress up as something linked to the topic ‘Sun, sea and sand’
The children will work together to create a mind map discussing what they would like to learn about and any activities that they would like to do during the summer term. This has been our method of planning the previous couple of topics and has proved successful in engaging the children and giving them an input into the planning.
