Mrs Richards will continue to be Deputy Headteacher across both Bedwas Junior School and Rhydri Primary School and will take on all of Miss Bodenham’s current roles in her absence, which includes taking on a non-class based role as Inclusion Manager. Letters will be sent out next week with information about the trip.

We do request that all Nursery pupils have an adult to accompany them on the trip. Weather permitting; we will be going out for the day. Children will be informed of the location of the trip closer to the date to keep the trip as a ‘surprise’.

Machen Show: Individual Competitions

The Machen Show is on the weekend and it is a spectacular event which provides an opportunity for our children to demonstrate to the community how talented they are. Please find below a list of competitions that the children can enter.  Can you please ensure that all competition entries are brought to school by Friday 6th July ready for the following day? All entries have to be clearly marked with the category e.g. 44 and full name and age.

Machen Show: Saturday 7th July

This annual event will be held on Saturday 7th July 2018. The Friends of Rhydri School PTA will be hosting a Bear and Book agency stall and are looking for donations of good quality teddy bears and children’s books.

The PTA are also looking for volunteers to help man the stall between 12pm-3pm and 5pm-6pm. If you can spare 30 minutes or an hour on Saturday 7th July please leave your contact details with Ms. Charlesworth in the school office with your preferred time or comment on our Facebook page (

The school will also be running a stall with Gold class next to the PTA stall, so please come along and support us all on the day!

Foundation Phase Open Morning – Carnival of the Animals: Friday 13th July

Mrs Gettings and Mrs Hayhoe would like to invite the parents of both Rainbow and Bronze class to meet on the yard at 9:15 on Friday 13th July. The Foundation phase topic this term has been ‘Carnival of the Animals’ and the children would like to show you what they have been doing by performing to you and showcasing their work.

The children will be creating some savannah sunset paintings that will be framed for the parents to purchase if they wish. The cost of these will be £5, which covers the cost of the materials and frames and then any profits made will be spent on enhancing the outside areas.

We feel that this would be a lovely way to finish the year and the perfect opportunity for us all to get together.

We look forward to seeing you there!
