Thank you to all of the family and friends who supported the Rhydri sports day this year. The afternoon was a huge success and even the sun shone for us! A special thank you to Mrs Banks for planning such a well organised afternoon and also thank you to the fantastic PTA for their hard work and continued support with this event.
I would also like to say a very well done to the parents and carers who took part in the tug of war at the end of the event, it was wonderful to see the whole community getting involved in our sports day!
We have checked the Met Office and BBC Weather Forecasts and the weather looks dry for today and tomorrow so at the present moment in time, we are going to go ahead with Sports Day tomorrow afternoon.
We will closely monitor the weather and if the day does need to be postponed, the school website will be updated by 9am tomorrow morning to save parents and carers telephoning the school.
Weather permitting; Rhydri Primary Sports Day will be taking place on Friday 19th May at the Village Hall. Events are due to start at 1:15pm. We welcome all parents/carers to attend and cheer on your children, but request that you bring your own chairs to sit on. Children are very welcome to attend school in their house colours. If you are unsure what house your child is in please ask a member of staff or Mrs Luff in the school office.
Thank you in advance to our supportive PTA, who will be selling a range of cakes, drinks and rolls on the day and as always, thank you to Mrs Banks for organising the event.
We will closely monitor the weather throughout the week, but if the day does need to be postponed, the school website will be updated by 9am on Friday morning to save parents and carers telephoning the school. The reserve dates are Tuesday 23rd May and Friday 26th May.

This year’s swimming gala will take place at Bedwas Leisure Centre on Monday 22nd May from 12.30pm onwards. In the past this has proven to be a popular, fun event with children and parents enjoying the afternoon. Parents are welcome to attend to support their child in the seating area above the pool. This area can be located up the stairs to the right of the main entrance to the building.
Those pupils that are participating in the event will need their swimming kit and a towel.
