Special Event – Behaviour Award: Margam Park

Our end of year Special Event to Margam Park will be taking place tomorrow. Weather permitting; we will be going out for the day.

Special Event is the school’s way of saying thank you to all the children for their dedication to school and their willingness to learn.  However, the children are also aware that any misbehaviour at the end of term could lead to not being able to attend.

Special Event – Behaviour Award

This year Special Event will be taking place on Thursday 13th July for Foundation Phase, where children will be visiting Roath Park for the day and Wednesday 19th July for Key Stage 2. Weather permitting; we will be going out for the day.

On the last day of term, good behaviour certificates will also be presented to children who have kept all their ‘golden minutes’ this term.  Please share your child’s success with them – this is a great achievement!

*If any parents/carers would like to join us on the trip, please contact your child’s class teacher.

Silver Class Educational Visit

Next Tuesday, silver class will be visiting Cyfarthfa Castle and Museum where they will have the opportunity to further explore the history of the Victorians. Children will investigate original artefacts, visit the museum’s galleries and explore a local Victorian cottage. Further information will be sent in an additional letter for silver class pupils.

Dinosaur Workshop

The Foundation Phase were very excited to welcome a special visitor on Friday – “Ronnie the Dinosaur” an extremely friendly Tyrannosaurus Rex! During the workshop, the children handled a selection of dinosaur fossils including claws and teeth, learned about the different species of dinosaurs and why they become extinct.  All children also had their photograph taken with Ronnie! The visitors were very impressed with the children’s knowledge and behaviour.

Forensic Science

At the start of February, Gold Class children will be taking part in a ‘Forensic Science’ workshop. Mr Jones, a professional forensic scientist, will give the children the opportunity to use a range of equipment to investigate evidence at a crime scene. The children will explore blood marks, fingerprints, DNA, saliva and insects, considering how this evidence would be helpful for police solving a crime.
