Our Art Day was a huge success and parents/carers of children in the Foundation Phase will be invited into school on Friday 13th July at 9:15am to view and purchase their children’s artwork and the artwork for children in Gold and Silver class will be showcased on Monday 16th July straight after school. The funds raised will be used to replenish art resources across the school.
Mrs Gettings and Mrs Hayhoe would like to invite the parents of both Rainbow and Bronze class to meet on the yard at 9:15 on Friday 13th July. The Foundation phase topic this term has been ‘Carnival of the Animals’ and the children would like to show you what they have been doing by performing to you and showcasing their work.
The children will be creating some savannah sunset paintings that will be framed for the parents to purchase if they wish. The cost of these will be £5, which covers the cost of the materials and frames and then any profits made will be spent on enhancing the outside areas.
We feel that this would be a lovely way to finish the year and the perfect opportunity for us all to get together.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Rhydri Book Day is getting closer! It will take place on Tuesday 21st November. To make this year’s book day even more special, we are very pleased to be welcoming the story teller, Daniel Morden, into school. Further details about his work can be found at www.gomer.co.uk/authors/danielmorden.html
To encourage the children to explore the works of Daniel Morden teachers will be sharing his books with classes during the week of Rhydri Book Day.
Thank you to all the parents/carers who joined us for our Art open-morning last Friday. The morning was a huge success and it was a fantastic opportunity for us to share with you the wonderful work the children have been completing in class. As always, your support it greatly appreciated.
Thank you to Rachel MacManus for taking videos and photographs throughout the morning and creating the following films:
(The first film is longer and includes the talks given by Miss Bodenham and the teaching staff and the second film just has shots of the day and the song)
Congratulations to the pupils of Gold Class who have created an animation about the Welsh settlers first meeting with the Tehuelche people of Patagonia. The animation is available to view on the school website – http://www.rhydriprimary.com. Please take the time to watch the video – it is a fantastic celebration of the children’s hard work. We are also delighted with the news that the animation is soon to be shown at the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival.
Thank you to everyone who performed at the recent Year 6 leavers’ concert. It was a very special occasion! Thank you to Mrs James and our singing teacher, Mrs Lewis for preparing the children for the event.
