For the Summer term, Rainbow and Bronze classes have chosen the topic of Carnival of the Animals. The children enjoyed listening to the music and were excellent at identifying the animals and discussing how they were represented through different musical elements including instruments in the orchestra. This has provided a platform to build and expand the children’s learning where they have created a mind map to include the animals they wanted to look at, any books they thought would be relevant and any questions they would like answered. In line with the new curriculum the children are given the opportunity to share and reflect upon what they have learned and decide what else they would like to learn the following week.
This week some of the children have shown an interest in the upcoming Royal wedding so we have decided break away from our current topic next week to follow their interests by celebrating the royal wedding and preparing for a feast fit for a queen!
